"Design at its peak, Nomad returns to St. Moritz. The showcase dedicated to art and collectible design enthusiasts returns to Engadine from February 22nd to 25th, 2024, at the historic Hotel Eden.
The reinvention of the "fair" typology – especially art and design fairs – has become a widespread trend: all possible formulas are being tried, everywhere. But Nomad – The traveling showcase for contemporary art and design – was certainly one of the first events to imagine a new format that has proven to be successful. The recipe is simple, unprecedented, and truly effective: the fair, "nomadic" as it is called, follows the international audience of collectors to resort locations deemed ideal, classic, and unmissable by this exclusive caravan.
Nomad, a fair with an itinerant soul.
Starting from Monte Carlo in 2017, Nomad's traveling journey has touched Saint Moritz, Capri, and Venice, initially on an annual basis and now bi-annually. It has inhabited luxurious villas, more or less ancient residences, historic homes, palaces, monasteries, majestic hotels either unused or in transition. The goal has always been to create an experience around the enjoyment of art and design set in unique contexts and accompanied by all sorts of convivial moments: from dinners at high altitudes to nighttime sledding excursions, to parties under the stars overlooking the cliffs.
The Winter 2024 Edition in St. Moritz.
For its upcoming edition in Engadine, from February 22nd to 25th, 2024, Nomad settles into a new space, the Hotel Eden in St. Moritz, which will host thirty-five exhibitors including galleries and special projects with unexpected and eclectic interiors. The fair confirms the presence of its most loyal participants, including Von Bartha, Angela Weber Möbel, The Gallery of Everything, and Volumnia, while boasting the acquisition of new and prestigious additions such as Galerie Negropontes, Florian Daguet-Bresson, Galleria Antonella Villanova, and Antonia Miletto.
In the setting of Hotel Eden, Chahan Gallery (Paris) and Sorry, We're Closed (Brussels) engage in a dialogue between art and design, Foreign Agent (Lausanne) presents an intriguing project on African art, Galleria Antonella Villanova (Arezzo) stages works made with the historic Viennese glassware J. & L. Lobmeyr within an original installation, while Sofia Zevi (Milan) constructs a fascinating exhibition around the theme of stripes proposing a comparison between the lamps of Massimo Vignelli and the contemporary textures of Chiarastella Cattana.
And while art and design fill the rooms with wisdom, the twentieth-century hotel also hosts a temporary restaurant specially designed by Giuliano Andrea Dell'Uva and special projects curated by Cabana magazine. The support of Gucci, Franciacorta, and the municipality of St. Moritz further confirm the success of this adventure that began seven years ago on the Côte d'Azur thanks to the audacity of an innovative formula and the determination of its two founders, Nicolas Bellavance Lecompte and Giorgio Pace."
