Born in Tunis and based in Paris, Ilyes Messaoudi's work is known for its Western and Oriental pop fusion both in terms of narrative, process and aesthetic, blending the traditional and the contemporary. For Kahina, Ilyes was inspired by a 7th century historical narrative to create twelve works on painted glass with added gold and silver leaves, as well as tracing paper and wool. This unique series will be followed in early 2022 by the launch of a book by Aurélien Simon edited by Orients Editions.
The work of Ilyes Messaoudi will be accompanied by two important works by Amina Zoubir, a Franco-Algerian artist whose "it is the time of happiness" which was presented at the Algerian pavilion of the Venice Biennale, as well as a sculpture inspired by the Kahina.
